The first week of Babette’s internship

Hi there! I’m Babette!

The newest intern at Great Stay App, originally from Antwerp. I’m currently studying Digital Design at AP University of Applied Sciences, and I also already have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Fun fact: deep down I’m quite chaotic. My ideas tend to fly in all directions, and I usually start ten things at the same time 😅. But in the end, I always manage to filter that chaos into one strong and beautiful result.

When I was looking for an internship, I mainly wanted a place where I would immediately think yes, this look and feel fits me. And that’s exactly the feeling I got here. The Great Stay App brand style feels personal, warm and fun, exactly what I was looking for.
After my first meeting with David and Sophie, I was already super excited to start here!

My first week

My first week is already behind me! Nerve-wracking? Definitely. But I was welcomed very warmly and enthusiastically right away. The atmosphere at the office is cozy, playful, and at the same time professional, a combination that fits me perfectly.

What I really loved is that I could start being creative right away. And that’s where I feel most at home. I started working on a one-pager animation for a trade show, which was a fun first assignment.

After that, I got to work on a pitch presentation for their new review management tool: Great Review. Super cool to be able to jump straight into something like that!

But honestly? For a moment I wondered if my work was good enough to show to the “real professionals.” Only a week ago, I was still a student, and suddenly it felt like the real deal. That doubt held me back for a second.

Luckily, I received a piece of advice that really stuck with me:
“Just switch the mindset and do what you enjoy doing.”

With that mindset, I went all in. And the result? Something I’m genuinely proud of. And fortunately, David was too!
Bring it on I’d say! I’m ready for it.

What I’m already taking away

I can already feel that I’m growing in the way I approach new design concepts and I’m learning to trust my own ideas and style more.
Oh, and BONUS: every afternoon we play a dart match 🎯. I still need some practice… but by the end of my internship I’ll definitely be a winner,watch me! 😉

If I had to summarize my first week: “Really awesome!” 😄
